How many moments have we been blinded to because our eyes were dimmed by worry over things to come? Life screams by, we are powerless to stop it, and worldly wisdom counsels us to fret. But we who follow Christ have a hope bred from promises from a steadfast God. Our future is set and secure, which frees us to live each moment in radical obedience to him.
When it seems like God is silent, or his actions cruel, when anxiety or grief crowds out the hope which yesterday filled your heart but now seems elusive, meditate on, drink in, inundate your weary mind and soul with as many of God’s promises as you can find. Devour them, and claim them as your own.
”Remove God, remove God’s image in us, and what’s left to sustain (our) identity? Well, not much, really. Except for desire. What happens when my desire goes to battle with your desire?” Jonathan Leeman
This reasoning could apply to justice, as well.
Christ commissioned his church. He was not nebulous or vague. Make disciples of Christ, baptize into Christ, teach obedience to Christ. It’s all about Christ!
In this fallen world, anything proffered as a “free gift” is most likely entangled in strings. As a result, we have, and rightfully so, become wary of anything touted as free. However, God promises in his Word that his gift of grace is, indeed, free. But free to us, not free of a price.
Oh, how marvelous it would be if man hadn’t fallen! Relationships would be as they were intended: generous, edifying, cooperative, fun, relaxed, and stress free. And, in literal , physical and spiritual, unhindered communion and fellowship with the Lord!
In the face of this unprecedented (in our lifetime) turn of events, when the news is ominous, the world seems strange, draconian measures are implemented, and life as we’ve known it is profoundly disrupted, I am happy to report that God has not changed an iota—every jot and tittle of his Word is in tact.
